Dominator is the latest series of memory modules from Corsair, which use a special heatspreader and a coupled fan to cool the modules. The first Dominator models were specified to 1111MHz (PC8888) and 1066MHz (PC8500) and cost somewhere between $400 and $600 for a 2GB kit. Corsair has now chosen to broaden its Dominator series with new modules specified to DDR2-800 (PC6400). It has launched TWIN2X2048-6400C3DF and TWIN2X2048-6400C4D where the difference are the latencies and a fan.
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C3DF is specified at 3-4-3-9 and is shipped together with the Dominator fan unit, while Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4D has to settle for 4-4-4-12 and no fan. The new memories should be a few tens cheaper than the PC8500 version, but still a bit over $300.
