After being showed at Computex Corsair has now announced two new cases in the Carbide series, 330R and 540. Airflow and minimal noise are top priorities, and the two new models tackle this with a sound-dampened inside, or as in the case of 540, split into two compartments.
The first of the two, Carbide 330R, puts minimal noise first and ships with noise cancelling foam on roof, side and front panels. There is room for two 120 or 140 fans in the front, two in the roof and one 120 mm fan at the back, and the case can be water-cooled with the radiator mounted either internally or externally, with pre-drilled holes for tubing on the back.
The model also has four harddrive or SSD slots and tool-free 3.5″ and 5.25″ slots, and the front panel has USB 3.0 support. The measurements are 495 x 210 x 482 millimeter, and it can house boards of Mini ITX, Micro ATX, ATX, and Extended ATX.
Carbide 540 is especially interesting and Corsair has chosen more of a cube design, divided into two compartments. In the left space you mount the motherboard, cooler and graphics card, and in the right space you install power supply and storage units. The basic idea is to enable better airflow for the hotter components and more efficient cooling for the entire system.
There are eight expansion slots with tool-free design mounting, and room for up to 32 cm long graphics cards. In the right space there are two vertically mounted 5.25″ and four internal 2.5″ slots. In the left there are two 3.5″ slots with hotswap, a nice function we have also seen with Obsidian 800D and 900D.
The left side has a large window, while the right side has a solid panel. For cooling there are two 120 or 140 mm fans in the roof, three 120 mm or two 140 mm fans in the front, and another 120 mm fan in the back where we also find holes for water tubes. The fans have magnetic dust filters, but no noise cancelling material like little brother 330R. The case measures 407 x 432 x 457 mm, and just like 330R it supports Mini ITX, Micro ATX, ATX and Extended ATX boards.
Both models are heading out to stores, 330R with a recommended price of 89.99 dollar while 540 will cost 139.99 dollar.
