Corsair XMS-4000PT is the name of Corsair’s latest creation to hit the market and considering the memory market’s development it’s no surprise we’re talking about a 2GB memory kit. Corsair XMS-4000PT is available as 1GB-kits though, but Corsair focuses on the 2GB kit called TWINX2048-4000PT. As the name reveals the memory is intended for speeds up to 500MHz which is considerably higher than Corsair’s earlier 2GB kit . At the same time Corsair XMS-4000PT works at much looser latencies, namely 3-4-4-8-1T. The new modules are already available in stores at about $300.
Corsair and other memory manufacturers is making it pretty clear that 2GB memory is current standard, but the question is if it really is that important as they want it to seem. We will take a closer look at this in an upcoming article here at NH.
