Crysis DX10 benchmarks makes GeForce 8800 GTX SLI walk on all four

Crysis is more or less “the game” when it comes to presenting Microsoft’s new DirectX 10 and this isn’t really all that surprising when you look at the sequences and pictures the extremely detailed graphics engine Crytek has built. High details comes at a high price though and Crysis is no exception. The first benchmarks with the coming game has now appeared and at the Asian site HardSpell they’ve tested the DX10 performance with two GeForce 8800 GTX graphics cards in SLI. Despite an overall powerful machine, Intel QX6700, 4GB DDR2-800 and BFG PhysX physics accelerator, the results show that Crysis is big challenge for the hardware of today.

With the highest image quality settings, no AA/AF though, they averaged 43.9 fps at a resolution of 1024×768. When they cranked up the resolution to 1280×1024 the performance went down to 36.8 fps. Hardly impressive results for a machine with some of the hottest hardware around. You should remember though that neither Crysis nor NVIDIA’s ForceWare drivers for Vista are completed so the figures may very well improve. But there is certainly no doubt that Crysis, with its DX10 support, will require more than most games.
