Crysis is probably the game on most peoples’ lips at the moment and this despite that Crytek’s latest creation will not be launched until the first quarter of 2007. We usually don’t report about software to any greater extent here at NH, but we make exceptions when the software brings the hardware into focus. Crytek had a huge success with Far Cry and has with Crysis a real drawing card for hardware manufacturers. The demo sequences of Crysis that have been displayed by Crytek has been very mighty and the graphical effects the game sports is above everything we’ve seen before. This of course means that the game will have high requirements and this is where the hardware comes into play.
At Gamespot.com they’ve published an article where they’ve had a chat with Crytek and focused on Crysis’ system requirements and affect on the hardware. Even if the game will not require the latest hardware to work at all, you will need a lot of power to be able to play the game Crytek intended it, I.e. with the best effects. Crysis will among other things be optimized for Microsoft’s DirectX10 API and offer 64-bit and multi-thread support. The latter means that processors with several cores will offer better performance and among other things the physical effects can be calculated by one of the cores.
Crysis seems to be one of the most technically advanced games for a long time and those who wants to know more about the game and its hardware requirements can find a lot of neat information in Gamespot’s article.
