There is a new memory technology waiting around the corner and it’s been in the news for some time now; DDR3. The Intel X38 chipset will be launched during the second half of 2007 and it will be completely reliant on DDR3 memory, but so far there seems to be rather few DDR3 circuits available, which has led to that it may take longer than expected for the new standard to gain a foothold. According to The Inquirer, which has been speaking to several of the major memory manufacturers we will see a continued increase of the DDR2 frequencies up until then. Next month several memory manufacturers are expected to launch DDR2 memory modules with a specified frequency of 1333MHz. We should also be able to expect cheaper 4GB memory kits soon, which is certainly something Vista owners have been waiting for.
