Dell is the largest PC builder on the planet and despite its big empire things have been a little tough lately. Especially in the high end segment where its XPS series, according to Dell, has done well, but suffers from being branded Dell. Dell is simply not something rich kids brag about to their friends, if they do it’s more likely Alienware, VoodooPC or something similar. These three have now ended up in an interesting situation as VoodooPC’s VP Rahul Sood has published a specualtive post in his personal blog where he says that Dell will buy the competitor Alienware. Soods has, clever enough, named the new company Dellienware and he has listed a number of reasons for Dell to do this.
That Dell wants to expand further and need a more respected name in the high end segment isn’t sounded all too farfetched and acquiring Alienware would’ve cost Dell peanuts in comparison to its size.
Rhaul Sood’s blog has been answered by Alienware, where it says it is unable to answer similar claims. We will just have to wait and see what will happen, perhaps we will see something similar to Dellienware in the future.
