Multi-touch has so far been rather exclusive to smaller tablet-like computers with monitors around 12″. Dell has no revealed that it will be using the technology with one of its larger notebooks, namely Studio 17. Dell Studio 17 ships with a 17.3″ LCD that alas does not offer Full HD resolution, but with 1600×900 pixels it’s still pretty decent, instead the focus is on the touch sensitive technology.
Dell offers the multi-touch display as an option for all Studio 17 customers and supports up to four simultaneous touches. This will allow users to squeeze or stretch pictures using simple finger movements.
The launch of Studio 17 with multi-touch technology is of course timed with Windows 7 that has been optimized for better touch support, which was developed together with developers N-trig.
We teamed with N-trig to add the multi-touch display option on the Studio 17. Their DuoSense dual-mode digitizer solution uses a highly accurate capacitive sensing system that delivers quick and responsive multi-touch capability Ð true hands on computing as they call it.
The prices of Dell’s multi-touch Studio 17 models start at $899.
