Dell curious about Chrome OS

Dell has shown interest in alternative operating systems before, among others by offering Ubuntu Linux for selected computers and it has tested Google’s mobile phone operating system Android for its netbooks. Now the world’s second largest PC maker has revealed that it is leaving a door open for Google’s latest creation, Chrome OS, as well. This despite the fact it wasn’t even on Google’s list of PC builders working on support for the operating system.

Just like Lenovo and HP, Dell hasn’t promised to deliver any products with Chrome OS installed, but it will look over the new operating system and perhaps include it with future products.

“Dell constantly assesses new technologies as part of managing our product development process and for consideration in future products”

But with Asustek and Acer on the list Google already has a strong base among computer builders and if it can just get a usable and interesting product there is every possibility Chrome OS will become common among OEMs.
