Dell has since the introduction of its first widescreen monitors been very popular among the consumers. It has offered good monitors at reasonable prices and the manufacturer’s first 20″ and 24″ widescreen monitors were big hits. The new series has been receiving a lot of complaints, but that hasn’t stopped Dell from keeping the pace and launching new models. According to DigiTimes Dell has namely ordered 100,000 panels a month from display panel manufacturer CMO (Chi Mei Optoelectronics). The panels that have been ordered are at the odd size of 22″, and widescreen. This means that Dell has a new model coming and that it would fill the gap between the 20″ and 24″ models.

We’ve already seen Acer launching a 22″ LCD monitor and it seems that the display panel manufacturers have just started to produce these panels. CMO is namely the first to have a solid production of 22″ widescreen panels, but other are expected to follow. Exactly how Dell’s 22″ model will look like is uncertain but it will hardly be the only one.
