The last couple of weeks we’ve been reporting about a number of incidents regarding Dell’s new widesceen monitors and one of them especially; the 20″ Dell 2007WFP. Many customers have been complaining about the image quality and Dell has finally announced it will take a look at the complaints and that it is working on a solution for the problem. While earlier reports have indicated problems with more monitors Dell is focusing on the 2007WFP model, which makes us wonder what the owners with banding problems and the bigger brother 2407WFP will have to do to get some attention. From what it seems Dell has chosen to “fix” the problem in a rather unusual way.
It has namely announced it will turn off “desktop mode” with a new firmware as it is through the DVI interface in “desktop mode” the problems occur. If this turns out to be Dell’s solution, to turn off a function with its monitors, this is most likely not the last we will hear about this.
