Dell makes Intel drop like a stone on the stock market

0

Dell earlier announced that it will launch servers based on AMD’s Opteron processors. Something we pointed out was an historical event as Dell has for many years been the last big PC builder who has been exclusive to Intel. That AMD is pleased with finally convincing Dell is hardly surprising but those who wants it in black and white can take a look at the stock market. After Dell and AMD’s cooperation went official Intel’s stock has dropped 5% to a record low $17.94, Intel hasn’t been this low since April of 2003, over three years ago. AMD’s stocks reacted the same way, but in the opposite direction, AMD’s stock went up with 8% to $34.95. Now analysts are sending out reports that the deal with Dell could make AMD’s market shares for the server market rise up to 30% during 2007.
