Dell orders 2 million AMD CPUs

A while back we reported that Dell will start using AMD’s CPUs in both its desktop and notebook computers, beside Intel’s. Sumit Dhanda said in its report from Bank of America that Dell had ordered between 1 to 1.2 million desktop CPUs, and about 800,000 for notebook from AMD. This would mean, according to Sumit Dhanda, that about 15-16% of Dell’s stationary computers would be AMD and 18-19% of the notebooks. The computers are expected to be delivered during the later part of the third quarter or at the beginning of the fourth. Following this, supported by rumors about Dell and AMD wanting to start up a closer cooperation, lead to that Sumit Dhanda predicted that AMD would do well on the stock market. Dhanda also belives in a higher earning for AMD this quarter but only a small one because of Intel’s new CPUs and the acquisition of ATi.
