Windows Vista has some rather hefty system requirements as we’ve seen earlier and the amount of memory needed is something that has increased quite a lot since the launch of Windows XP. From 64MB for Windows XP to 512MB for Windows Vista, but even 1GB seems to be for having an “OK” experience with Vista, at least if we are to believe the world’s largest system builder. Dell has namely said that 2GB of RAM is what people should go for if they want to run Vista in an optimal way. Dell will most likely forward this recommendation to its customers and it would be interesting to see some tests and comparisons between 1GB and 2GB RAM with Vista, or even more actually. In a few months all of this will most likely be quite clear though.
