Dell has now released two new laptops, one ultra-mobile and one mobile workstation. The ultra-mobile Latitude D430 is based on the Intel Santa Rosa platform, which means Intel Core 2 Duo and 802.11n wireless networking. The Latitude D430 weighs about 3 lbs/1.35 kg and is about an inch thick and has a 12″ widescreen display. The Precision M4300 may not be as portable as the Latitude D430, but it makes up for it in performance. The D430 comes with up two 2GB RAM and the Intel GMA 950 graphics circuits, while the M4300 comes with up to 4GB RAM and NVIDIA Quadro FX 360M. The Precision M4300 is also based on the Intel platform and comes with Core 2 Duo and 802.11n connectivity.
Dell emphasizes the fact that you can get both of these laptops with 32GB solid state drives, and that even though they are more expensive now, may save you money in the long run as they reduce the chance of a mechanical breakdown or such, while also boosting performance and reducing power consumption.
The Latitude D430 can be your’s for $1,509 and the Precision M4300 for $1,750.
