Dell continues to sneak out new monitors and after recent reports on the upcoming Dell S2209W as one of the manufacturers coming 1920×1080 monitors, Dell has now released a 23″ model with identical specifications. It uses a native 1080p LCD panel with 1000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time and 300 cd/m² brightness. Dell S2309W has been posted at Dell’s Canadian website and the question is if we can count on Dell maintaining the same attractive price in other countries.
Dell seems to be serious about its venture with 1080p panels and considering the volume Dell ships it should mean others will follow. We should see more and more focus on the cheaper 1080p panels, but what we’re really wondering is if they are worthy replacements or if they will just become an alternative to the 16:10 panels we have today, e.g. for those who watch a lot of movies and such.
