Dell has announced a broadening of its rather exclusive stationary XPS line. To make it more appealing to people of a bit more limited budgets, Dell has decided to launch a mid-range version sporting more modest hardware. Although, I’m not so sure a quad-core CPU and SLI is modest, but it’s at least a bit more accessible than the 700 series. Based on the nForce 650i chipset, the base configuration sports an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 and GeForce 8800GT. Interestingly, you can get two Radeon cards and run CrossFire on the nForce 650i chipset.

Prices start at $1,249, and then you get one 320GB harddrive, 2GB Corsair Dominator memory modules with headroom for overclocking and an ESA-compatible 750W power supply. Options include an AGEIA PhysX card and a Blu-ray disc drive.
