DFI LANParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G is one of the most anticipated motherboards we’ve ever seen and the reason is quite obvious; it’s the chipset, RD600. The circuit is developed by ATI and when the first reports appeared in the middle of 2006 they promised quite a lot. AMD then decided to acquire ATI, which in turn got cold feet and became undecided on RD600, as it was a chipset for the competing Intel platform. In the end, RD600 was finalized and DFI is the only manufacturer that has chosen to launch a board based on the chipset. We’ve taken a closer look at the anticipated board to see if RD600 and DFI LANParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G can live up to the hype.
“There are quite a few motherboards to choose from for the Intel Socket 775, but most of them are based on Intel’s P965 or 975X chipset. They have both been around for some time now and lately we’ve noticed the launch of a couple of new chipsets from other manufacturers. Among these we have NVIDIA 680i, 650i and ATI RD600.”
