DirectX 10 will be unique to Microsoft’s Windows Vista. Microsoft has been working on construction DirectX 10 from the foundation and up and to be able to guarantee the system it has even skipped the backwards compatibility with the older DirectX versions. Instead they will be like a layer on top of DirectX 10. Over at Boot Daily they’ve had a chat with Chris Donahue, Microsoft’s DirectX guru.
