DisplayPort has appeared in the news at numerous occasions and the technology that is considered to be the successor of DVI and VGA (D-SUB) has now taken another step on the consumer market. VESA has namely tested three of the circuit manufacturer’s DisplayPort components, sender, receiver and cables, with a good result. DisplayPort is expected to become an alternative to the HDMI standard and if HDMI has its focus on the home electronics market DisplayPort is expected to become the equivalent on the PC market. Although, HDMI has made appearances on the PC market as well, so right now the situation is a bit uncertain. The technology has the potential to carry high-res signals and now that the first tests have proven successful we’re looking forward to the final specification and the first products supporting the interface.
