Analysts at In-stat have presented a report where they comment on the sales of semiconductors in 2008, but also tries to predict the future. Alas a dark age is approaching. The sales went down quite a lot in the last quarter of 2008 and it doesn’t look any better this year. They calculate the sales of various semiconductors to drop by ca 20 % in 2009. The sales are not expected to reach the record notation achieved in 2007 before 2012. The key to success will be being able to quickly adapt the production capacity to the current market mood (I.e. reduce) This is a development we’ve seen coming and we can only hope that others have too.
