DreamHack Winter 2008: Mionix to launch more gaming products soon

Most of faithful readers remember our stories about the upstart company Mionix that earlier announced its Saiph series of mice and mouse pads of the Alioth series. What makes Mionix a bit unique is that it is a small, and Swedish, company that is trying to go after the big boys of the gamin accessory industry, including companies like Logitech, Razer, Microsoft and Roccat. The accessory market is a lot tougher than you might think and we’re of course a bit extra proud to see a native company delivering products that stands up to the tough competition.

Even if we feel the Swedish heritage is a nice touch, all that really matters is the quality of the products. Our reporter got a chance to test two of the Saiph mice during DreamHack, although far too little to pass out any kind of judgment. The mice felt solid, but lack distinguishing functions, which is also explained by the fact that Mionix considers the Saiph series as the mainstream family of products. It will launch two new series, one budget and one high-end that should offer more exciting features.

Calle Conradsson, one of the founders, told us about a coming headset that it has high hopes for, something we will tell you more about when the first samples are ready. They couldn’t tell us anything else at the time, but we will keep an eye on how Mionix develops and any new exciting products it may unveil in the future.
