DriverHeaven has made an interview with nVidia employee Derek Perez. nForce drivers, 3DMark optimizations and how nVidia plans to interact with enthusiasts are examples of topics that are brought up. A whole lot of positive words can be read from the presented material.
“[DriverHeaven] How can you see nvidia’s interactions with the general enthusiast community changing in the future?
[nVidia] I think you’ll see a couple of things. First of all – we’ve always monitored the community and listened to what they said – but very rarely have we communicated directly with them. So you’ll see more NV people participating in public forums – answering questions and laying to rest rumors and speculation. Also – you’ll see us sponsor more LAN parties, Gamefest, and so on. Doing tutorials, give-aways, sponsorships and more.”
It’s decidedly great to hear that nVidia will follow the same path as ATi, regarding interaction with the enthusiast market. ATi’s good reputation, which it has been given lately, probably depends mostly on the company’s benevolent technicians and PR teams that’s “out on the field” on a daily basis.
However, some parts of the interview may be questioned for it’s authenticity:
” [DriverHeaven] Is there any validity to the claims made by the INQ that nVidias PS2.0 part of the detonators is faulty at the minute?
[nVidia] No – this is not true.”
The fact of the matter is that nVidia’s current drivers don’t follow the Pixel Shader 2.0 standards for any cards, other than the FX 5900 and FX 5900 Ultra.
Another question concerns the nForce drivers and their moderately wretched status. The answer to this question is, however, much of a disappointment.
