AMD and Intel’s venture at dual-core has meant a lot for both the consumer and workstation market. You no longer need two processors for multithreading capability, but at the same it gets even easier to increase the multithreading capability. At X-bit Labs they’ve tested such a monster system based on two AMD Opteron 275 processors. The system is a true workstation which has been completed with nVidia’s Quadro FX 4500, based on the G70 architecture. They have done number of tests gearing the tests towards workstations. Alas it shows we really need better software support for these monsters.
