ECS, Elitegroup Computer System, is best known for its affordable motherboards, but on the other hand shown very little interest in the high-end segment. It seems that this might change in the close future as Digitimes reports that ECS will focus more on higher-end products during 2008. It has started to adjust the layouts of the motherboards to better suit the demands of the the high-end users, but also add new features to them. There are also information that suggests that ECS should perhaps launch these high-end boards under a new brand dedicated to enthusiasts products.
“Some channel vendors think that if ECS is serious about cutting into the higher-end market it will need to completely change its brand image to have a chance of competing with the other first-tier motherboard makers.
However, other vendors pointed out that ECS used to be the leading motherboard maker, and so if the company is aggressive over its R&D and management it could be possible for the company to win back its position in the high-end market.”
