Evesham Quest A620 – FX-60 in a laptop!

Evesham Quest A620 seems to the DTR system personified, I.e. it is truly a DeskTop Replacement. Simply a laptop that will replace the stationary computer at home. A DTR often comes with a lot of performance, poor battery time and weight problems. Evesham Quest A620 easily picks off all of those as Evesham has installed the most power hungry processor of all AMD’s processors, namely Athlon 64 FX-60. This processor has been installed in a “portable” computer together with a GeForce Go 7800 GTX and two 100GB 2.5″ harddrives. The processor is extreme even with a stationary system, which says more than little about its position in a laptop.

At regular office use the battery time was about 1h and then the system was quite loud thanks to the fans, that actually couldn’t keep the system cool enough to have in your lap. Putting the computer in your lap might actually result in both burn and pressure damage as the computer weighs over 6 kilograms (over 13 lbs.).

At Bit-tech they’ve tested Evesham Quest A620, that really is a monther of a laptop. We can only ask who in the right mind would buy such a system, especially as it costs over $4,400.
