BlackPearl is the clever name eVGA has for its specially designed graphics card series. What makes the BlackPearl card series unique is it is shipped with a water block instead of a regular air cooler. We have earlier reported about both GeForce 7950GX2 and 7800GTX of eVGA’s BlackPearl series and now the latest addition has arrived, namely NVIDIA’s current flagship GeForce 8800 GTX. EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTX “BlackPearl” is shipped with a tailor-made water block and require a water cooling kit to be used.
The water cooling is certainly more efficient than a regular air cooler and eVGA hasn’t been late with taking advantage of the increased overclocking potential. The card is namely delivered with a core running at 630MHz (575MHz stock) while the memory is working at 2.0GHz (1.8GHz stock). EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTX “BlackPearl” is a card for enthusiasts and the price is also at a different level than regular graphics cards, about €799.
