EVGA E-LEET – On-the-fly CPU core activation/deactivation

EVGA has developed a new technology for overclockers where a new software called “E-LEET” allows the user to control the processor cores with a simple press of a button. The application enables users to set a shortkey for turning off, and turning on in realtime. This may seem rather uninteresting for the average Joe, but could be the difference between a great result and a world record.

If a test has parts where multi-threading doesn’t matter it might be an advantage to deactivate cores to get better stability, something that could become even more important when Intel launches its first six-core enthusiast processor, Core i7 980X.

A presentation of E-LEET can be found at YouTube where overclocker Shamino shows how you can turn off and turn on cores during a 3DMark Vantage benchmark.
