Radeon X1800 XT and GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB are ATI and NVIDIA’s respective flagships on the graphic card market. These cards are the best you can find today and both ATI and NVIDIA have pushed their architectures to the limit to be able to supply us, the consumers, with these cards. Even if ATI and NVIDIA is on the limit with what they can produce there are completely different limits to close up on if you are an overclocker. We therefore gave the cards to Sweden’s best processor overclocker, Robert “Crotale” Kihlberg, and the world’s best 3DMark overclocker Marcus “Kinc” Hultin, to give ATI and NVIDIA’s flagships some really cold treatments. During a hectic weekend with very little sleep they achieved some very impressive results and at the same time managed to destroy a graphic card worth 8000 SEK ($750). Read on in our latest article about how a “regular” weekend can look for an extreme overclocker. “Usually we don’t talk about the overclocking until the end of our articles, but this time thought we would do the exact opposite. We usually test the cards with the stock cooler, but we thought we would change that. Therefore we hired Marcus Hultin, also known as Kinc and world record holder in all three 3DMark categories. He will with the help of dry ice and liquid nitrogen investigate what X1800XT and 7800GTX 512 can do under extreme conditions.”
