Samsung will announces the MD series of monitors next month. The new series is designed specifically for multi-monitor users and AMD’s multi-monitor technology Eyefinity. Samsung enters with two models that in setups of 3 and 6 panels will result in some serious desktop space.
Samsung MD230x6 and MD230x3 are actually monitor packages that with three or six 23″ displays are attached to specially designed foot and mounting system. The panels sport 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, 8ms response time and actual contrast ratio of 3,000:1. Through Eyefinity users can build desktops with resolutions up to 5760×2160 pixels (MD230x6) and as expected you can use a variety of inputs, including HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort.
Each IPS panel have thinner bezels to minimize the space between the actual pictures. We can see there is still some work left to do, but we applaud Samsung for taking this first step.
Samsung MD230X6 is the perhaps least interesting of the two since it costs over $4,000. If it can keep the price of MD230x3 reasonable it should become an interesting solution for the serious Eyefinity user/gamer.
