In a blog at Seattlepi’s webpage they’ve published an interview, or more of a Q&A, with one of the founders of Firefox, Blake Ross. He is just 21 years old but was one of the bright minds who started the development of Firefox. They discuss several interesting questions and Blake Ross seems to be almost too honest when he say that IE7 actually looks like a good browser and that he sees no problem with that MIcrosoft sends along its browser with its operating systems. He’s not this positive about everything though and among other things IE7 brings, according to Ross, no fresh ideas, Microsoft has simply adapted Firefox’ features.
If Ross is rather forgiving to the most extent there is something he really can’t stand, namely how Microsoft left the development of IE more or less dead during several years. Blake Ross is so harsh he practically blaims Microsoft for the creation of spyware, adware and pop-up ads.
“The truth is I think Microsoft is very directly responsible for spyware and adware and the pop-up ads in general that proliferated across the Web after they abandoned their product. I mean, this is the world’s most-used software application ever … and I just think it’s irresponsible for a company to abandon it simply because they can’t find a financial incentive to continue development on it.”
