Small preview image

Acer’s contribution to the netbook market, Aspire One, has grown up and judging from these new pictures we will soon see a 10” model. Acer has had a tremendous success with the 8.9″ Aspire One and last year it announced a very aggressive expansion plan. It is aiming to claim 50% of the netbook market and this 10″ model that looks to launch in February will be an important part of that.

The computer will contain the following hardware:

Intel Atom processor at 1.6 GHz
1 GB RAM (1 slot)
10.1″ display with 1024×600 pixel resolution
160GB harddrive
Bluetooth
Wifi
3G (optional)
”multi-touch” touchpad
Windows XP
SDHC card reader
3x USB ports
Web camera

Judging from the pictures there are a couple of differences from the old 8.9” model. The first and most obvious change is that Acer has moved the left and right clock buttons from the side of the touchpad to the regular location below the pad. This will most likely be welcomed by those who are accustomed to the classic layout. Other than that the rear panels looks to have been improved, which should make hardware upgrades a lot easier.

This was a shorter preview from some unofficial pictures, but we hope to return soon with more news on Acer’s coming contribution to the netbook market.
