ForceWare 158 is the latest driver for NVIDIA’s GeForce series graphics card and the new driver is available for both Windows Vista and Windows XP. ForceWare 158.19 is the name of the WinXP driver and the news include support for the new graphics circuits GeForce 8600/8500/8400 and 8300. We should point out that the new ForceWare 158.19 can only be used with NVIDIA’s new GeForce 8 series, people with older cards will have to keep using older drivers. The new Windows Vista driver is called ForceWare 158.18, but it has support for the older GeForce 6/7 series. Except for support for the new circuits we can also see a number of bug fixes and performance improvements.
NVIDIA has also chosen to revert to the classic control panel, which is something we can imagine that a lot of people will be very grateful for. There are still some lacks with NVIDIA’s Vista drivers, like advanced resolution settings and the absence of nView Desktop Manager.
NVIDIA is on the right path with its Vista drivers though and more information about these can be found at its website. The new ForceWare 158.19 Windows XP drivers for the GeForce 8 series can be found here.
