ASUS har fått stora framgångar med sin Xonar-familj av ljudkort och komponenttillverkarens high-end modeller har börjat få kommando på PC-marknaden. När nu ASUS lanserat en ny modell i sin Xonar-familj är det med slimmade mått och bakåtkompabilitet. ASUS Xonar DS 7.1 är ett så kallat lågprofils kort som får plats även i väldigt låga datorer, som inte allt för sällan dyker upp på HTPC-marknaden. Xonar DS använder sig till skillnad från ASUS senaste modeller av det äldre PCI-gränssnittet vilket kanske kan vara någor överraskande, men samtidigt borgar för god bakåtkompabilitet.
