Foxconn Mars has been talked about quite a lot for the last month or so. The reason for this is quite simple as it is Foxconn’s first real attempt to make a motherboard for the overclockers and enthusiasts. The Mars motherboard is the first in a series called Quantum Force, which will feature motherboards specially designed for the people that wants a little more performance and stability from their equipment. Mars is based on the Intel P35 chipset and the reason Mars has been such a hot topic is mainly its new BIOS, also known as Gladiator. This new section of the BIOS offers settings that should appeal to many.
The voltage settings are numerous, including a voltage multiplier for access to an even wider range of voltage settings. Foxconn has also loaded the BIOS with advanced DRAM timing configurations, and those who are feeling a bit uneasy when overclocking can always use one of the instantaneous overclocking options.
Mars have been tested by some of the best known overclockers of the community, for example both Shamino and Kinc have been asked to try it out, to ensure that Mars is able to deliver when it is finally released.
Along with the Mars board Foxconn will also launch the Quantum Force website, which will go live in early September. There you will be able to download the latest software and BETA BIOSes for your motherboard, chat with other Foxconn users, or get technical support.
Foxconn prides itself with its stable and thorough engineering of the board, everything from the PCB layout to component selection have been carefully planned to make sure Mars delivers the very best performance and stability.
Like most new enthusiast motherboards Mars also features an on-board CMOS reset button along with on/off and reset buttons. Foxconn has also designed an application called AEGIS that allows for monitoring the most important voltages, temperatures and fan speeds from Windows.
Foxconn Mars will become available in the next week or so.
