Memory companies are lining up products before the upcoming mid-range P55 platform from Intel, which launches in September. Intel’s new Lynnfield processors have dropped one memory channel from the bigger Bloomfield core, and this means that the triple-channel DDR3 kits sold for the Core i7 platform isn’t exactly optimal for Intel’s new dual-channel platform. G.Skill has now released information on its Ripjaws series targeting gamers and enthusiasts.
The modules will operate at between 1333MHz and 1866MHz, but it also reveals plans for kits operating at 2000MHz CL9 and 2200MHz CL8 for Intel’s newest platform.
The Ripjaws modules need an operating voltage of 1.65V and use a specially designed aluminum heatspreader that in some ways reminisce of a “ripjaw” monster. Prices and availability yet to be announced, but they ship with lifetime warranty.
