GeForce 7800 GTX breaks 3D-records

0

Small preview imageGeForce 7800 GTX has just arrived but already new 3Dmark-records have been set, and with quite a margin. One of the first to get his hands on nVidia’s new flagship and paired them together with some other impressive hardware is xtremesystems’ Oppainter. One of the better and better known overclockers. Oppainter has taken two 7800 GTX-cards, and until further notice only used watercooling and paired them together with his extremely overclocked Athlon 64 FX-55, 3681 MHz (!!). The result is a couple of new records that probably will be improved soon.

The system Oppainter has used is basically this:

Athlon 64 FX-55 overclocked to 3.6GHz+
The processor is cooled by a cascade of phase change compressors.
2 GeForce 7800 GTX overclocked to 542 MHz GPU, 1438 MHz memory, watercooled.

Oppainter has set new records in all three 3Dmark-tests and as we said earlier he has quite a margin. Below you can find the new records:

3Dmark05: 16086 points
3Dmark03: 34891 points
3Dmark2001: 48046 points

Impressive is the least you can say and this is despite that Oppainter has not used his cascade cooling on the graphic cards, something that should give him a few more MHz to play with. So this is most likely not the last we’ve heard from oppainter and his 7800 SLI-system, but until then you can read more about Oppainters adventures at XtremeSystems.
