Linux achilles heal too many is the limited support for graphic cards and games. Linux will most likely always come second to Windows in this area but the graphic card manufacturers are now trying harder than ever before to update their drivers. This is the case with nVidia, at least, as it now launches a new set of drivers for Linux and at Phoronix they’ve taken a closer look at what the new drivers will add to your Linux paired with nVidia’s top model GeForce 7800 GTX. A relatively short article which only discusses the performance in Doom3, but it will give you a good hint of what to expect in Linux with the new 1.0-7675 drivers, which is without a doubt a big improvement.
