GeForce 7950GX2 is the official name of NVIDIA’s retail version of GeForce 7900GX2; the dual-GPU card that has been used by PC builders to create Quad SLI configurations. It seems NVIDIA will launch its GeForce 7950GX2 cards on May 30 after having decided between a number of dates in May. The reason for the delay of the retail version of NVIDIA’s dual-GPU card wasn’t revealed but there seems to have been some technical difficulties. We’re guessing that the PC builders also wanted some more time to sell their complete Quad SLI systems before the retail cards become available. The price of the GeForce 7950GX2 is expected to be €890, making a Quad SLI setup far from cheap.

We can assure you that we will return with more information about NVIDIA’s super video card when we get a hold of it, but those who can’t bear to wait until May 30 we know that XFX’s GeForce 7900GX2 card will become avilable as a Quad SLI upgrade kit from northern Europe retailer Komplett soon. The kit consists out of two video cards, motherboard, power supply and a chassi. The package costs 18 995 SEK ($2,550), but only ONE kit will be available and I’m not sure if I should tell you this but I know that someone in our staff is having some real cravings for this system.
