Small preview image

It was pretty obvious that it wouldn’t take long before NVIDIA’s new GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card would beat most records set with 3D-based benchmarks. We mentioned this in our preview where we focused on overclocking NVIDIA’s new card and it certainly didn’t take long before we were proven right. Well known overclocker Kingpin has now published a new row of performance world records, including all four 3DMark tests. Some of the results are almost close to unimaginable and completely pulverizes the records from the last generation of graphics cards.

Our own overclocking gurus Marcus “Kinc” Hultin and Robert “crotale” Kihlberg will be at DreamHack trying to set new 3DMark world records with the latest hardware from Intel and NVIDIA and now that Kingpin has raised the bar a little we are glad to accept the challenge, although he claims there is a lot more to get from the system.

Specifications:
NVIDIA EVGA 680i SLI motherboard
Kentsfield b3/Conroe b1 (1.75V, actual vcore) @ -100°C loaded temps
2 x 8800 GTX SLI (850-870/1150) @ -40°C to -45°C Tek-9 LN2
Corsair Dominator 8888 2GB
Silverstone Zeus 850W

The new 3DMark world records are as follows:
3DMark 2001 SE: 92,007
3DMark 03: 74,983
3DMark 05: 30,449
3DMark 06: 23,000

There’s no doubt that it’s GeForce 8800 GTX which makes these results possible and for those who wants to see when we at NordicHardware will be trying to set new world records should head over to DreamHack at the end of the month. Kinc and crotale will be there and trying to raise the bar, Live at DreamHack. Until then you can read on about Kingpin’s new records at XtremeSystems.org.
