Vr-zone.com reviewed NVIDIA’s GeForce FX 5800 Ultra. They used the latest detonator release, 43.45, and compared the card with ATI’s Radeon 9700 and their own GeForce 4Ti 4600. About its performance they concluded:
“There is no question that GeForce FX 5800 Ultra is the highest performing card now with great scores from 3DMark2001SE, 3DMark2003, UT2003, Quake III, Serious Sam SE and Doom III but availability of the card is still a question as we don’t see any retail cards out selling yet.”
Performance comes at a price:
“The suggested retail price of the GeForce FX 5800 Ultra card is US$399 which is still on the high side when priced against the Radeon 9700 Pro, so in order to recapture and regain market share, the ideal price should be at around US$320-350.”
