Gigabyte has organized a large overclocking competition for the Nordic countries and since our last report, Gigabyte has decided to change the rules a bit to attract even more participants. We’ve been in contact with Gigabyte about the competition, which will reach the grand final in the form Gigabyte Overclocking Day at the end of August. This will be the Nordic final where there winner will get to go to Taiwan for the world finals.

Just the Nordic competition will result in at least 10 prize winners and 5 which will sent on to Overclocking Day where they will battle for the one ticket to Taiwan. Gigabyte has clarified some of the rules as bit now and among others, confirmed that you don’t need a Gigabyte motherboard to participate. Gigabyte is focusing on Gigabyte users (in other words, any Gigabyte product will do as long as it was bought in 2008), but it also says that there is a “wild card” if an exceptional overclocker would appear.

Also, Gigabyte says that during the Gigabyte Overclocking Day there will be fine prizes for the visitors of the event, lotteries and special offers through Gigabyte partners.

The online qualifier will go on until August 18th where the five finalists will be selected, get to travel to Stockholm and Gigabyte’s Gaming & Overclocking Day, thus the final. The final competition will have five identical systems with the latest components from Gigabyte and Intel.

The primary benchmark used in the qualifier is SuperPi and to make sure that everyone, no matter the processor, will get a chance to reach the finals, Gigabyte will appoint a jury that doesn’t just look at the final scores, but also what they had to do to get there.

If you’re from the Nordics and have at least a slight understanding of Swedish you can head over to our Swedish forums where we’ve created a forum section for Gigabyte Cup where you can chat with Gigabyte and ask questions about the competition. You’re of course welcomed to join, if you live in the Nordics, and please do share the results in the forums if you do choose to participate.

More information about the competition can be found at Gigabyte’s website (Swedish).
