Gigabyte i-RAM or GC-RAMDISK, which the unit henceforth will be known as, is probably the most used RAM memory harddrive on the market but despite that the number of users are relatively few. Pretty much everyone like the concept of non-mechanical harddrives with memory chips to store the data, but i-RAM was the first product of its generation and had a lot of limitations. Gigabyte has now displayed the next verion of its RAMDISK at Computex and it is with both a completely new design and tuned properties. GC-RAMDISK is no longer connected to a PCI slot but use a regular molex connector for power and is actually installed in an empty 5.25″ slot where it is connected to the motherboard through SATA. RAMDISK nowadays sport SATA-II with 300MB/s data transfers and use DDR2 memories for really high frequencies. It has also doubled the amount of memory you can use from 4GB to 8GB. Gigabyte’s new GC-RAMDISK is just looking better and better and we’re eager to here more about this.
