Gigabyte och ASUS har som bekant startat ett gemensamt projekt kallat Gigabyte United där ASUS stod för 49 procent av ägandet och Gigabyte de resterande 51 procenten. De senaste veckorna har det dock ryktats om att samarbetet skulle upphöra efter problem med både finanser och att projektet faktiskt skulle kunna bryta mot EUs konkurrenslagar. Det har nu visat sig att ryktena faktiskt varit sanna då ansvariga från Gigabyte bekräftat att man beslutat sig för att säga upp samarbetet. ASUS kommer att dra sig ur företaget men Gigabyte kommer att driva vidare Gigabyte United dit man redan fört över större delar av sitt produktsortiment.
A spokesman of GIGABYTE said a resolution of the board of directors was passed on the Mar 22 to call off the plan of forming joint venture. Its explained the confusion of clients and suppliers, together with the changes of both internal and external factors has lead to this hard decision. In the present environment, the necessity of forming joint venture is no longer as strong as expected, and thus suspension is the best solution for both shareholders, said GIGABYTEs spokesman.
Om Gigabyte United kommer få ett annat namn i framtiden är ännu oklart men klart är alltså att ASUS och Gigabyte kommer att jobba enskilt även framöver.
