Gigabyte X48-DQ6 and X48T-DQ6 are the two first X48 boards to appear, as far as we know, and over at Turkish hardware site Donimhaber they’ve gotten their hands on box shots of both the DDR2 and DDR3 versions of the coming Gigabyte X48x-DQ6 boards. Gigabyte X48-DQ6 is using the older DDR2 standard, while Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 will sport the new DDR3 memory. If the memory support is anything like the X38 chipset we’re pretty certain that the X48 DDR3 board will be to prefer. Not only because the X38 DDR3 boards had better memory handling, but also because Intel has officially removed all support for DDR2 with X48.
X48 will bring 1600 MHz FSB support, although this is something that most X38 already support (not officially though), but the DDR3-1600 support is new, even though only a single channel is available, and the memory dividers for DDR3 has been improved.
Until we have boards in our own hands, you will have to settle for these pictures, which are pretty similar to those of the Gigabyte X38 boards with the almost identical names.
