Google Apps for Your Domain is both a description and the name of the new product suite Google will launch targetting companies worldwide. The software company will tie together its users with a package that is starting to look a lot like Microsoft’s Office package. Google Apps for Your Domain will containt programs for mail, chat, calender, word editing and handling websites. The free version of this package will be finansed by ads, just as Google’s search engine, while it is also planning to launch a commercial version without advertisements sporting more online storage.
The programs will run on Google’s own servers, just as most of its current services, and even if the basic functions are similar to those of Office it is no surprise that Google’s package doesn’t contain as many features as Microsoft’s equivalent. Google Apps for Your Domain is intended for schools, universities and companies that wants cheap office suites for their systems.
