The other day an anonymous sources sent over a couple of screenshots to Engadget. They showed how Google was about to change the user interface of Gmail and other applications. Those of you who have read the reviews or even tested Google Wave are perhaps accustomed to the suggested design. We can’t tell for certain that the pictures are real, phony leaks aren’t exactly rare. Although, if they’re not someone spent a lot of time in Photoshop trying to hide it.
The look is similar to Google Wave and the fact you can change size and minimize the different sections does make you think this may be the real deal. It would be the logical development to use a unanimous design with all applications. Since we already know what the next big applications looks like, this seems fairly reasonable.
Considering the warm reception of Google Wave it seems plausible that the rest of the applications would be redesigned as well. However, there is no way to be certain and we can only wait and see what happens.
