H.264 in HD resolution requires enormous amount of power

Apple Quicktime H.264 is one out of many high resolution videoformat that will be more and more common as the selection of HD-material increases. We have reported that both ATi and nVidia is bragging about how their cards can accelerate H.264 material. Some have perhaps wondered whether this really is something to brag about and if we really need it all. At The Inquirer they done some tests on playing H.264 material on various computers without the help of hardware accelration. The results are breathtaking as H.264 namely requires extreme amounts of performance, but we can also conclude that HD-material fits dual-core processors quite nice.
