HD DVD Promotional Group announced during Digital Life that HD DVD is far ahead of Blu-ray in the sales, despite what seemed to be a disadvantage in assortment and support from studios. The fact is that HD DVD is selling three times that of other HD media. The best selling movie is Universal’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, but it expects to almost triple its assortment to about 230 movies. This and Xbox 360’s coming HD DVD addon, plus Toshiba’s second generation of players, actually make the future look quite bright for the format that once looked inferior.
