One of the hotter topics currently is the new wave of 3D and starting CES in a week or so we will be witnessing everything from Blu-ray 3D to new and better 3D displays in all shapes and sizes. We now hear that the coming HDMI 1.4 specification will be looked over to support the stereoscopic 3D broadcasts that are expected to go online next year.
To make sure the new generation of 3DTV products work well together you will not only need player and TV supporting the 3D format, you also need to be able to send signals between the two, which HDMI 1.4 will be capable of.
HDMI licensing group is working on improving the support for 3D broadcasts with the HDMI 1.4 specification that is expected to be released next year. US TV networks have been pressuring the group and 3D is expected to become the next big thing.
The 3D technology of 2010 will require special glasses
unfortunately it looks like there will be many different implementations of the 3D technology, which could complicate the making of TVs capable of handling the different technologies. Although the implementation of different HDTV formats have prepared manufacturers for these things and hopefully they can use this experience with 3D broadcasts.
There will be more, a lot more, after CES opens its doors.
